Community Outreach Committee

The Community Outreach Committee works to enhance Cape Fear CREW’s professional reputation and visibility in the community, primarily through organizing activities and events to allow our members to engage in community services and to organize annual fund raising activities. Cape Fear CREW has several events and organizations that we focus on.

Cape Fear CREW in 2021 established a unique partnership with Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington (GLOW Academy) that introduced its students to career paths in commercial real estate. GLOW Academy’s broad STEM curriculum brings into focus a number of careers in science, technology, engineering, art, and math but now provides the all-girls public charter school’s students the opportunity to explore careers in an industry long dominated by men. The educational partnership, GLOW Academy Commercial Real Estate Club, provides weekly, after-school club meetings that showcase multiple career paths in commercial real estate throughout the fall, culminating in the graduation event. Cape Fear CREW members can participate in the real estate club by contacting our Community Outreach Committee.

Our chapter has also endeavored to support She ROCKS, Inc., a non-profit organization that one of our founding members, Beth Quinn, founded after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She ROCKS is devoted to raising funds for ovarian cancer research at UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNC Chapel Hill) and also providing support to all cancer patients undergoing treatment at Zimmer Cancer Center (New Hanover Regional Medical Center). Beth passed away in January of 2018, after a hard fought battle against ovarian cancer. Although she is no longer with us, we aspire to elevate our chapter to the level that she envisioned.
